2. Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

Step 1: Create a System Restore Point (Crucial Step)

Before installing manually updated drivers on modified coreboot firmware, always create a system restore point:

  1. Press Win + S, search for "Create a restore point", and open it.
  2. Select System Drive (C:), click Configure, and select "Turn on system protection".
  3. Click Create, type name Dell 3120 Before Drivers, and hit OK.

Step 2: Extract the Driver Package

Download the driver ZIP file using the download button below. Right-click the package and choose "Extract to Dell_3120_Drivers_HCT_Tech" using WinRAR or 7-Zip. Enter the password obtained from the YouTube video.

Step 3: Manual Installation via Device Manager

Chromebook controllers require manual targeting via INF drivers:

  1. Right-click the Start Button and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for yellow exclamation signs under "Other devices" or standard system controllers.
  3. Right-click the target device (e.g., Intel SST Audio or Unknown Device) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose "Browse my computer for drivers".
  5. Click Browse, select the extracted driver folder on your Desktop, check "Include subfolders", and click Next.
  6. If Windows shows a publisher verification prompt, click "Install this driver software anyway".

Step 4: System Restart & Hardware Initialization

After installing the I2C, GPIO, EC Bus, and Maxim 98090 Audio drivers, perform a full system restart. This enables the Coreboot table and Embedded Controller (EC) to correctly communicate with Windows 10/11.

3. Troubleshooting Audio & Touchpad Issues

💡 Audio Still Not Working After Restart?

  • Ensure both Intel SST Audio Device (WDM) AND Maxim 98090 I2S Audio drivers are installed together. Maxim 98090 acts as the hardware codec, while Intel SST manages the bus.
  • Check Windows Services: Press Win + R, type services.msc, locate Windows Audio, and set Startup Type to Automatic.
